Winter Wedding Bridesmaid Dresses
Pointers for Choosing Winter Wedding Bridesmaid Dresses
Once you find your perfect wedding dress you should
start shopping for the bridesmaid dresses that will
compliment your gown. There are lots of factors to
consider when choosing your bridesmaid dresses.
In turn,
the sooner you begin your search the better chance you
have of finding just what you have in mind. For example,
lets say you are getting married in December. Here are
a few things to keep in mind when choosing the ideal
winter wedding bridesmaid dresses:
Style & Comfort
You will need to take the weather into account if you
are getting married during a month that is typically
snowy and cold. Although an indoor setting promises to
be cozy, youll want your winter bridesmaid dresses to
be comfortableand that means warm. Obviously, this
isnt the occasion for light, breezy summer frocks.
Instead, look for bridesmaid dresses made from soft
cotton/wool blends or heavier materials like satin or
velvet that fall to at least the knee in length. You may
want to accessorize with faux fur wraps, beaded capes,
knitted scarves or shrugs. These details not only look
terrific, they are sure to keep your wedding party
toasty and snug.
Color & Coordinate
Most wedding decorations have a unifying theme. For
example, winter weddings may incorporate
Christmas-themed decorations like poinsettias,
snowflakes, or angels. One way to highlight the winter
theme is to choose a dark rich color like burgundy for
the bridesmaid dresses. Or you may want to capitalize on
the Christmas vibe and have your wedding party dress in
reds and greens.
When choosing the colors of the dresses, keep in mind
that your wedding party does not have to wear identical
outfits. Perhaps youll choose an array of warm jewel
tonesruby reds, sapphire blues, emerald greens, or deep
purplesthat match the floral decorations or table
settings. Keep in mind that members of your wedding
party may look better in certain hues than others.
There is a trend today for two-piece bridesmaid outfits
such as a long skirt and a fitted jacket or a long dress
with a jacket. Two-toned bridesmaid dresses are also
popular choices.
In addition, your girlfriends probably have very
different body types, so it may be a good idea to vary
the cut of the bridesmaid dresses. If so, you may choose
to have them in the same color or fabric. And to pull
the entire outfit together, you may want to ask your
bridesmaids to buy dyed-to-match shoes. If so, be sure
to give them ample time to order them before the big
day.
Attention to Details
If you are having your bridesmaid dresses custom-made,
be sure you have secured one seamstress to work on all
of the dresses. If you want all them to be the same
color, have the seamstress cut the patterns from the
same bolt of cloth so there will not be any variation in
shading or hue.
In addition, youll want to be sure you
have enough time to get the dresses to your wedding
partythey should reach any out-of-town bridesmaids with
time to spare in case any last minute alterations are
needed.
A winter wedding is a very special occasion that should
also be a visually stunning affair. By carefully
selecting and coordinating winter wedding bridesmaid
dresses with the rest of your wedding dcor, you are
sure to create wonderful, lasting memories for years to
come.
